Alessandra Bone Inlay Table

Design and Planning:

• Sketch out the design of the coffee table on paper. Decide where you want the bone inlay pattern to be placed on the table surface.

Prepare the MDF:

• Measure and cut the MDF sheets to the desired dimensions for your coffee table using a jigsaw or circular saw.
• Sand the edges and surface of the MDF to smooth out any rough spots.

Prepare the Bone Pieces:

• Clean and prepare the bone pieces you have for inlay. Ensure they are clean, free from any residues, and shaped as per your design requirements.

Inlay Preparation:

• Mark the areas on the MDF where you want the bone inlay to be placed.
• Using a sharp tool or chisel, carve out shallow grooves or spaces on the MDF where the bone pieces will fit. This will ensure the bone pieces sit flush with the surface of the MDF.

Bone Inlay:

• Apply wood glue or epoxy adhesive into the carved grooves on the MDF.
• Carefully place the bone pieces into the grooves, ensuring they fit snugly and are aligned correctly according to your design.
• Allow the adhesive to dry as per the manufacturer's instructions.

Resin Application:

• Once the bone pieces are securely in place and the adhesive has dried, prepare your black epoxy resin according to the manufacturer's instructions.
• Carefully pour the black resin over the entire surface of the MDF, ensuring it covers the bone inlay and fills any gaps.
• Use a spreader or brush to evenly distribute the resin and remove any air bubbles.

Curing and Finishing:

• Allow the resin to cure and harden completely as per the manufacturer's recommendations. This could take several hours to a day or more, depending on the type of resin used.
• Once the resin has cured, sand the surface gently with fine-grit sandpaper to smooth out any imperfections or rough spots.
• Apply a clear protective finish over the resin if desired, to enhance its durability and shine.

Assembly:

• Assemble the table legs or base according to your design. Attach the MDF surface to the base using appropriate screws or adhesive.

Final Touches:

• Inspect the coffee table for any imperfections and make any necessary touch-ups or refinements.
